Also known as a cornflower, Bachelor's Button "Blue Boy". Plant has an upright habit and produces abundant papery flowers with intense sky blue blooms atop tall stems. Although the plant is an annual, it usually reseeds itself for a repeat appearance year after year. Blooms are great for cutting and keep their color when dried. Has edible flowers that have a bland and mildly floral flavor.
Planting Information:
When and Where to Plant: Select sunny location and plant outdoors as soon as soil can be worked in spring. Sow again in late summer through fall in mild winter areas. For earlier blossoms start indoors 4-5 weeks before last frost. Culivate soil and firm over seed, keeping it moist. Successive 2 week plantings will extend flowering.
Care: Water moderately, apply food at planting. Plants often reseed themselves.
